Burr Mosaic Project
Burr is partnering with Green Star Movement to install an amazing, permanent, outdoor mosaic on the east side of the school (behind the Organic Learning Garden, facing Ashland Ave).
This project aims to:

  • Enhance Burr’s Art Curriculum.
  • Provide a unique, ongoing, experiential learning opportunity for ALL grade levels, Pre-K – 8.
  • Instill school pride and strengthen self esteem in students taking part in an enduring, high-profile public art installation.
  • Encourage multi-generational collaboration between students, faculty, parents and community members.
  • Act as an introduction to service learning.
  • Foster a sense of inclusive partnership between Burr and its community members through Project Community Day/s when anyone is invited to come and work alongside Burr sudents on the mosaic project.
  • Build critical thinking skills during in-school design and planning workshops held by Green Star Movement.
Friends of Burr’s Mosaic Committee is actively seeking support from area businesses. Support Burr, support the arts, engage with the community and advertise your business! Tiles are available at the following Donor Levels:
 
$400-$650 = 4″ x 4″
$700 – $950 = 4″ x 8″
$1000 & up = 8″ x 8″
 
If you are interested in a tile or making an individual contribution, please use the QR code or email the following BY MARCH 15th to kristenholub@gmail.com:
 
Name, Address, phone #, tile size, and a high-res pdf of your logo/art/image to be printed on your tile. 
Payment via check, cash or Visa/Mastercard is needed to reserve your tile and tiles are limited.

About Our School

Welcome to the Jonathan Burr Elementary School website. We are a small neighborhood school conveniently located in the Chicago neighborhood of Bucktown. Our school is at 1621 W. Wabansia, just off the Kennedy Expressway, near Ashland and North Avenue. Burr serves neighborhood students as well as students from around the city. Our dedicated teachers build a rapport with each student and family.
